Community-Based Diversion
Northwest Alabama Transitions
As an alternative to placement in the Department of Youth Services, Northwest Alabama Transitions serves Fayette, Lamar, Lawrence, Marion,and Winston counties by offering highly individualized services to adolescent males and females between the ages of 13 and 17 1/2 who are experiencing behavioral and legal issues.
The program varies in duration and intensity depending on the adolescent’s needs and motivation for change, but usually lasts from three to six months. This flexibility allows for a step-down or step-up of services based on the adolescent’s progress. Through a cooperative working relationship between The Bridge and the juvenile courts in these counties, our mission is to serve as the central resource to assist adolescents and their families in navigating the services available to them in the region.
