Facilitator, Pickens County
Job Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
Direct Education Services                                                                             
  • Teaches subject matter appropriate to educational background and certification by the Alabama Department of Education
  • Administers and scores subject matter tests
  • Plans and outlines class work within prescribed limits; assembles and prepares learning materials for special studies
  • Develops, implements and evaluates individual education plans
  • Supervises students in classroom and exercises classroom management skills necessary to facilitate a learning environment
  • Participates in in-services, trainings, and other professional development activities necessary to maintain certification and professional skill enhancement
  • Maintains scholastic and attendance records
  • Provides individual instruction and encouragement as needed
  • Confers with parents, student, counselor and other stakeholders regarding students’ needs, progress, and/or abilities
  • Coordinates with the students’ home school officials to acquire and/or communicate relevant education records, grades, and other pertinent student information in a timely manner.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings as necessary
  • Ensures content of client academic file is in full compliance with The Bridge Policies and Procedures, Local Education Agency, and contracting agency requirements. This includes file data entry, quality of file content, timeliness of entries, timeliness of file updates and archiving.
  • Maintains cooperative relationships with local education agencies, treatment community, juvenile probation department, and other necessary and pertinent agencies.
  • Works cooperatively in a team environment with other program staff to ensure the safe and effective delivery of services in a manner that is welcoming and engaging.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Dept. of Education in appropriate course work or in the field of education
  • Possession of a teaching certificate from the Alabama Department of Education
  • High level of integrity, dependability, and honesty
  • Ability to express ideas and directives clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Valid Alabama driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills
  • Computer skills including: Office 2000, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Cultural sensitivity in working with external and internal consumers including clients, staff, volunteers, referral agents, vendors, community organizations, etc.
  • Effective stress management/composure
